Montserrat is known as the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean because of its lush green hills and mountains, and its connection to Ireland. Example: Saint Patrick’s Day is a national/public holiday in Montserrat, Ireland and Newfoundland, Canada. In Montserrat, it is a week-long celebration of our Irish and West African heritage and our ancestors’ fight for freedom, when they planned a rebellion on March 17, 1768. They didn’t succeed because someone leaked the plan; consequently, their Irish and English masters executed some of them, and imprisoned or banished others.
Have you ever climbed the 1776 steps of the Canadian National (CN) Tower? I’ve climbed them a few times, to help raise money for United Way. My best climb time is 28 minutes and 24 seconds.
